Let's Talk New York

So you're attending NCRA's Annual Convention in New York this summer, looking to get those 3.0 CEU points - "Fuhgedaboutit!"

This is the greatest city in the world, so make some time to experience it.

Here's our guide for having a great time in New York. Now, "Let's Get Ready to Rumble!"

Day One :

Breakfast/Brunch: Sarabeth's Kitchen, 1295 Madison Avenue, (212-410-7335) - Simply Scrumptious. Walk off that feast and stroll over to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1000 5 th Avenue @ 82 nd Street, 212-879-5500.

Dinner: BLT Steak or BLT Prime or BLT Fish. Your choice. They are all 4-5 star restaurants and you cannot go wrong dining at all of them, one each night.

Day Two:

Breakfast: The Brooklyn Diner, USA, 212 West 57 th Street, 212-977-2280. The name says it all.

Afternoon: The American Museum of Natural History, Central Park West at 79 th Street, 212-769-5100.

Dinner: You're only in New York once, so . go to Brooklyn! Dine at Peter Luger Steakhouse, 178 Broadway, Brooklyn, 718-387-7400. Make your reservation mid-week. It is very, very hectic and frenzied on Friday-Saturday nights. Best steak you'll ever eat. Guaranteed. Not much on décor, but it is a legendary New York dining experience. (Note: CASH ONLY!)

Day Three :

Breakfast or lunch: Jackson Hole, 1270 Madison Avenue, 212-427-2820. Delicious omelettes and burgers (Dozens of variations).

Play Time: Stroll down Madison Avenue or Fifth Avenue -- it is your choice. You can't go wrong.

Evening: The Theater. Go see "Wicked," our favorite play on Broadway, at the Gershwin Theater, 222 W. 51 st Street, 212-307-4100.

Day Four : Got some money and time left? Dine at Nobu, 105 Hudson Street, 212-219-0500. Great Sushi and "People Watching." Reservations are a must.

"New York things ya gotta do:" Rockefeller Center, The United Nations, The Empire State Building, The Chrysler Building, The New York Public Library, Times Square, Chinatown, Little Italy, Tavern-on-the-Green, at night, very romantic atmosphere, followed by a horse-drawn carriage ride through Central Park.

Time for a little "Retail Therapy?" Try the Big Three: Tiffany's, Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue.

Want to go downtown? Try Soho and Tribeca for great designer shops and boutiques.

While strolling down Mulberry Street (Little Italy), stop in at Ferrara for a cappuccino and cannoli. (Worth every carb!)

Bagel and a Schmear: Hands down, best bagels in New York are at Ess-a-Bagel, 831 3 rd Avenue 212-980-1010.

Pizza (Hey, New York invented it): John's of Bleecker Street, 278 Bleecker Street 212-243-1680.

Jewish Soul Food: Sammy's Roumanian, 157 Chrystie Street, 212-673-0330. A unique dining experience - " Oi, Vai!"

Helpful Hints : Make your reservations now. Don't wait until you get to New York because - It's New York!

Take about $100 in singles - "Hey, Big Spender" - Everybody in New York expects to be tipped.

The Airport ride: Rent a limo to take you into the City. Your average taxicab ride costs approximately $45. A limo costs about $55. It is well worth the difference.
