This month our web site features the following original writings:

Science Fiction:

Tyrannicide by Christopher Howard : Sometimes you have to be frightened, very, very frightened at what your homemade computer system creates, especially when it has become a time-machine. Was there ever a scarier modern era than one that has the following words to it: The Fuhrer (Adolph Hitler) and his Reichstag "The Culture of Hate."

Horror Tales:

The Taste of Bitterness by Norman A. Rubin : From Afula Israel comes a strange horror story of "Mrs. B." Sometimes, no matter what you do, you are damned, damned if you do and damned if you don't. Sometimes you are damned by your stupidity, by your circumstances, by your faith, by your religious convictions - but nonetheless you're damned. You will enjoy this well-crafted tale of circumstances beyond anyone's control.

Death Spot by Dan Mills : Immortality has a high price. I can't wait to see the illustration that I am sure Dan Mills will create to go with this unique story that reveals the depths that some men will go through to cheat death from its well-deserved reward: Your Soul!

Fantasy Tales:

The Storming of Castle Anlaas by R. V. Saunders : From The United Kingdom comes a fantasy tale, which is sure to become a favorite of fantasy readers, as we are introduced to the Assassin Kerrick, and the invasion of Castle Anlaas. Perhaps Duke Aelweg should take better precautions in the future . if there is a future.

The Witch Bargain by Verna McKinnon : A late entry that makes our new author's short story whet your appetite for more to come. Although Verna hasn't indicated that there will be future tales about Tela the Barbarian, I believe this is but the start of a series of short stories that show that the distaff side of barbarianism has quite a lot to offer the fantasy genre.

Shared World:

Dragons Will Be Dragons by Janice Jackson: A short story that portends to show the futility of attempting to steal from a dragon lord's hoard. Peter Gustav has forgotten the first law of survival in Talos Valley, "Don't Get Caught!"

Odan's World:

To Give Aid and Succor by Daniel Olarnick : Chapter 4 introduces the life and times in the Scribal Priesthood, the unnamed scribe, the headmaster, Fallows, his second in command Gazine (I'm telling you now, don't trust this scribe, he has ambitions), Utre the Troll and . well, every quest has to have a beginning and here is our erstwhile scribe, suddenly showing that lethargy is not really his style. Read it. I hope you will like it and the path being taken.

(Coming Soon: Dan Mills has been commissioned to illustrate this chapter.)

The Pretentious Twit by Michael Battaglia:

Michael has outdone himself in this issue, offering up not one, not two but three insightful reviews:

The State of the Website: Michael's thoughts on how the website has grown over the past year. It is insightful and should produce tremendous emotions and thoughts (yours and mine) as to "How Are We Doing?"

"The Scribe with No Name" is reviewed, showing the behind-the-scenes, give-and-take that goes into writing and reviewing an editor and publisher's personal favorite character and novel. Does Michael care about my lofty position? Not a bit.

"The Horrible Mile" is reviewed with Michael's interpretation of "dramatic irony" Laura Kelly should be very pleased with this review, as will our readers.
