| Well, the time has come: The next issue of
Scribal Tales has been posted on our website (Scribaltales.com).
What has occurred since last month's issue? Plenty!
April Fool's Day -- of course has come and gone - by that
I do not mean April 1st, but April 15th, Income Tax Day!
So, here is a roundup of what has occurred during the
past 35 days:
Birthdays:
Thomas Volberg Jr. - April 9: Can this Elven Wizard-Warrior
(to be) really be eleven years old? How quickly time passes.
Tom and Diane have every right to be proud of him. He's truly
wonderful.
Fran Cioffi - April 12 - Her nickname is "Double
F." Wonder why?
Titanic Birthdays: Keith Scott Olarnick (Brother
of Dan "O") and Joan Donnelly, April 14th. Note:
Their birthdays are the same day that the Titanic sunk. Hmm,
I wonder if there is any hidden meaning there?
Denise Paternoster: April 23 - Is she "hot"
or what? Anyone knows why she's called "Dorothy?"
Stu (The Barbarian) Reich: April 25. This great
buddy of mine is sure to be a character in our continuing
storyline - that is if he ever leaves the gym early enough
to visit Scribal Tales!
Celebrating our Holy days: Passover and Easter.
They're closer than we think and represent our joint respect
for each other. Pause and reflect upon this joining.
Comings and Going:
Herb and Sharon Landman: My long-time friend, Herb,
finds a new homestead to share with his forever "bride"
Sharon, in Arizona, after a wonderful career as one of the
finest -court reporters that the state system has ever produced.
Keep on writing, Herb, and your play(s) will be published.
You will be missed and have been, already.
Hot Couple: Walter and Elaine Klausner on their
45th Anniversary! Who said it would "never last?"
New Addition: To Gabe and Nicole Morales on the
announcement - a new puppy - Moo Shu (means Little Warrior)
and to the "grandparents" the "forever young
couple" Nelson and "Evie" Carlo - more babysitting
duties!
Annie Does it Again! Terry-Ann's sister, Ann-Marie
Mediavilla (nee Volberg) Scores tickets to the NBA Playoffs
- Round 1 - Home Game 1 (Suite 1027A - Seats 8 & 9) Madison
Square Garden for the Knicks in their failed attempt to win
the NBA Championship. Michael Mediavilla, John Singer, Terry
and Dan "O" enjoy her "influence" to the
nth degree.
Overview: While the Knicks lost, there was nothing
lost on Anna Paige, Terry's niece, Annie and Mike's daughter.
While in the "box" Terry gets a phone call from
a very, very upset Anna Paige. "Aunt Terry, what are
you doing there at a basketball game - isn't that a little
boyish?
Anna Page is all of 5 years old and believes boys do not
rule, no matter what, and her Aunt Terry should spend all
her spare time visiting and playing with her!
So what does Terry say to explain her circumstances: "Uncle
Danny made me go!"
Recently Read:
The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. A great read. (The
Albino: A wonderful villain.) The novel receives a Scribal
8.5 out of 10 from this reader. Who knows, one day, Dan Brown
might be a guest of Scribal Tales while reviewing our works!
The Scribe Speaks! On May 8, 2004, Daniel Olarnick
spoke at a seminar entitled, "
Trends in Reporting
"
I was the opponent to the National Court Reporter Association's
Board of Directors' proposed amendment to admit the "dreaded"
stenomaskers into the national association. Terry says, "Danny,
You Rock!" If she is proud of me, I know I did well.
The Scribe Writes! Daniel Olarnick is now nationally
published. His recent article, "Don't Sell Shorthand
Short. (Stenogate 2004!)" has been published in various
state association journals and in the National Journal for
Court Reporting (26,000 members). If any reader would desire
a copy (hey, good writing is good writing) I will be more
than happy to send you an "autographed" copy (Dolarnick@aol.com).
Scribal Notes: Visitors to Scribal Tales from 679
to 993, as we celebrate our 130th day of existence. Time is
on our side!

Here are some of the newest features you can expect to
see and read when you visit Scribal Tales (Scribaltales.com):
Fantasy Tales: Gabe Morales publishes Chapter 2,
Sidria's Song of "Torment." It is a wonderful fantasy
tale. Gabe introduces a bevy of new characters to join Valdor
the Assassin and his companion, the halfling Hadrian. I believe
you'll love his new heroine, Sidria the Sorceress, an un-named
Darconite (What's a Darconite you ask?). A great battle scene
takes place between Sidria and the Draconite, with Sidria
about to receive the coup de grace (death blow). Gabe tackles
the very nature of the death gem and life gem (or crystal)
and its complex properties. It is simply a wonderful read.
Ebon Grupe by Daniel Olarnick: Chapter 2 of my
on-going story has been completed in this month's Scribal
Tales. You can find it published in a few places: Odan's World,
the Shared World Universe and, of course, Fantasy Tales. It
is a set up story. If you have forgotten what Chapter 1 was
about, you can look it up in the archives. As I have done
in the past, I repeat the last paragraph as a segue into this
new chapter.
Pretentious Twit by Michael Battaglia: In this
month, Michael reviews Torment.
Michael is even-handed in all his reviews - that's why we
call him "Acid Tongue."
Michael has forwarded to me a number of reviews he has
done for Amazon, among other Internet sites. He has treated
world famous authors in the same manner he has treated our
authors - Michael holds nothing back in explaining who, what,
where, when and why he has a love-hate relationship with fantasy
tales and why he prefers science fiction.
Horror Tales: The
Pedophile continues to draw raves and attention. Susan
Bross has not chosen to write a new tale, but we look forward
to her next contribution. If you have enjoyed her tale, write
to me and I will post your response to the Forum and make
sure that Susan gets your message.
Rebecca Gallant: Our Web Goddess has a new e-mail
address. Her
site is visually beautiful and worth a "look-see."
Shared World Milieu: Gabe Morales' and I are working
on getting a cartographer. Next month "we" will
begin working on the infamous glossary. From there, Gabe's
brother will begin the time-consuming work of preparing a
map that forms the dragon-shaped continent called Volante!
Answer to last month's Question: (Wicked The Untold
Story of the Witches of Oz.)
Question: Where does the name of the Wicked Witch,
Elphaba, derive from?
Answer: The initials of the author: Layman Frank
Baum: L.F.B. Elphaba!
Quote of the Month: (From Daniel Olarnick in an
untold story to be published in the coming months): "We
all pay for our passions, in one way or another! (Quote from
Odan the Scribe).
