Ah, summer. All good things happen during the summer.

The results are in: Forty-six responses to "Opposites Attract (See Scribe's Gazette, February 2007.) Robert T. Tuohey's tale of Bent had 25 replies to me who loved the story and Michael Battaglia had 21 who agreed, more or less, with his review. The story and review has been our outstanding attraction for the past year. Both author and reviewer deserve a Scribal Tales "Well done!" for having done honor to their craft.

Scribal News: Congratulations to Rebecca Gallant, our very own Web Goddess (and Michael) on their upcoming newly arriving baby author.

Reminder: It is the policy of Scribal Tales that our published authors should attempt to read the published works of their fellow authors and comment.

Congratulations: To J. Jackson (Hensbane, Gatherhence) on reading all the past submissions and sending her comments to each of the authors. Thanks, Hensbane.

Terry-Ann Volberg and Daniel Olarnick (Hey, that's me) are on their way to the World Series of Poker for the championship event. May the luck of the Scribe be on them!

Features

The Pretentious Twit by Michael Battaglia: Our feature publication this month is a review by the Pretentious Twit (a/k/a Michael Battaglia) of Joel Levy's epic, Lords of Darkness. The review, as is Michael's style, is all inclusive, spanning some 30 pages (whew!). It is my suggestion that you print the review, read it chapter by chapter (certainly not in one setting), and I have absolutely no doubt you will become a far better writer (author) than you were when you started reading the review (you will probably be a lot older, but we all sacrifice for our art).

Fantasy Tales: Finbar the Minstrel, by Tala Bar , continues his journey, bringing joy to all with is tales of daring, love, honor, disgrace. Tala Bar has brought to life an interesting character that is loved by those who read the Tales of Finbar. Enjoy the next tale of our wandering minstrel, Music, Love and Magic.

A new author joins our fantasy writing society with his submission of, Vohl and the Ice Queen, by Henry Otis Clarke. This tale has all the elements that a fantasy reader and writer desire. So, grab a cold drink, turn on your reading lights, put your feet up and enjoy reading about the adventures of: Vohl, Alia, Hovaritch, Tuahal and countless others that have been created by the fertile mind of Henry Otis Clarke. Expect to see more episodes of the Shadow Dragon Saga.

Horror Tales: Norman A. Rubin , one of our fine contributing authors makes the pages of Scribal Tales with is utterly deeply mentally horrifying tale of, The Funeral of Sir Henry Redlaw

Robert T. Tuohey returns to Scribal Tales with his submission of, The Cut-up Method. It is not a nice story; it is simply a horrifying story, as a good horror tale should be.

Here's a wonderful horror tale, by new author, Ed Coet , who submits for your reading pleasure, Big Bertha. Teachers, students, public officials, it is all about you, you and those mean things you do. The daughter of a witch and warlock, so to speak, produce Big Bertha, whose special brand of canning (via Big Bertha's Butt Buster) take discipline to a new height. Fortunately, Big Bertha is no longer with us - until her final resting place is disturbed.

Odan the Scribe, who has resided within the Relic (a crystallized skull - who happens to have a personality of its own, by the way) finally, makes an appearance - be it ever so brief. What happens? Nobody knows. The crystallized cavern, in and of itself has distorted the memories of the adventurers (The Scribe, Utre [The Trollian Prince], The Mongrel, Ebon Grupe and - well if you count Odan, the Bijou (a/k/a The Terrible Howling Beast) and the Relic, which only you, the devoted reader, have discerned, the Quest is drawing to a conclusion. All that is left is to enter Talos Valley, locate the Black Swan Inn, deposit the Relic with a courier, and it is all over -- maybe!

Shared World: Love and Revenge Brocalinde Style by Joel Levy: Joel's tale, Lords of Darkness, reviewed in this issue by Michael Battaglia, adds another chapter to this on-going Shared World Tales. The tale ends with a fists-of-fury fight taking place right outside the Black Dragon Inn. Joel's improvement as a writer is quite evident here. This chapter seems like a great way to begin our summer collaboration. Details will follow later on this month.
