This month I have turned over the duties of reporting our Family News Column to "Aunt Tick." Aunt Tick has kept a faithful log of family events during all the years that Scribal Tales has been produced, and deserves some well-earned recognition and acknowledgement.

(Applause and Three Cheers for Aunt Tick!)

This past September 11, 2005, Madlyn and John, Annie and "yours truly" conspired and pulled off the surprise birthday party of the century for Terry-Ann, at a wonderful setting, The Village Club at Sands Point. Over 60 guests were in attendance, and nobody, and I mean "nobody let the cat out of the bag." The look on Terry-Ann's face - priceless, as is Terry-Ann. So I want to take a moment and thank Annie (Bob "W" you're a lucky man) for her wonderful skills at making all the arrangements. To Madlyn and John for making the arrangements at the club, and to our family and friends for sharing in this special day, to Michael Mediavilla (Mediavilla Productions) for producing a surprise DVD presentation of Terry-Ann's life in pictures (Copies available - yours for the asking). To all who attended, and those who couldn't, you are the facets that make Terry-Ann the true precious gem she is. Thank you all.

Congratulations to Stuart and Evin Reich on the Bar Mitzvah of their son, Alex, October 23, 2005.

Aunt Tick Reports

I'm looking at the calendar and here is what I come up with for the next issue of the Gazette. In the last issue you already reported June and July.

August 2 - Madlyn and John had their 2nd wedding anniversary.

August 7 -- Anna Paige had her ice skating recital. She did a terrific job and won 3rd prize.

August 14 - celebrated Angela's birthday. Actual date for birthday is August 12.

August 26 - Tom and Diane had a 17th wedding anniversary.

August 29 Terry and Dan off to Las Vegas for two weeks. They had a great time. Dan was in poker tournaments and Terry enjoyed playing the slots.

They were there for Terry's Birthday - the big "40". They celebrated going to dinner. Celebration not complete - Dan "forgot" Terry's present (Bad, very bad - he fooled everyone with that move).

However, Dan honored Terry with a wonderful surprise party, which was held on September 11 at The Village Club at Sands Point.
Terry was completely surprised and speechless. All of the family, Terry's friends and coworkers were in attendance. It was a spectacular event. The two party planners -Terry's sisters Madlyn and Ann-Mare - did a wonderful job with all of the arrangements, which made the party a big success. Terry received fabulous gifts, which she opened at her parent's home after the party. It was a day that she and everyone won't ever forget.

Terry-Ann's birthday cake was unique - A video-poker machine featuring a royal flush in diamonds, unique, original and delicious.

September 17 - Michael's Grandmother passed away. She was 101 years old.

September 22 - Chivas (Madlyn's Golden Retriever) had a Birthday. She is now 8 years old.

September 28 - Anna Paige lost her first tooth (Yeah, the Tooth Fairy did make an appearance)!

October 1 - Peter and Angela were married 44 years.

October 8 - Tom and Diane left for Italy for 8 days (A birthday present for Diane).

October 9 - Anna Paige became 7 years old. Her party was the evening before with all of the family in attendance. The theme for her birthday was Dogs - so naturally, her delicious cake was a big dog bone.

Pilar's 2nd Birthday - A party on Saturday, October 22.

[Comment by Dan "O": Peter (The Streak) Volberg - Happy Birthday, Pete … you're the best … at least the penultimate.]

Special Note: Thomas is active in cross-country track meets; Chris in soccer, Olivia in cheerleading, and Julia in "Being Julia."
